MAGIC hosted 2 Days Startup Bootcamp at IGTR

CMIA’s Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC) aims to create startup ecosystem in the Marathwada Region by mentoring technology based scalable business ideas, MAGIC provide incubation support, prototyping and testing services to the startups to create impact in Marathwada Region.

CMIA’s Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC) in association with GIZ and Indo German Tool Room (IGTR) hosted 2 Days Startup Bootcamp for the Startups, Innovators and SME’s in the Marathwada Region on 19th & 20th (Saturday and Sunday) October 2019 at Indo-German Tool Room (IGTR) Aurangabad.

The 2 day Bootcamp was conducted by the experts Mr Mukesh Ashar & Mr Deepak Meharia. The bootcamp focused the topics like startup business sustainability, scalability through taking the participant understand from basic of Entrepreneurship, innovation, customer empathy, business modelling, business plan, Presentation and pitching to stakeholder.

More than 40 participants participated in the bootcamp comprising Startups, Students and Faculties from various Institutes from Aurangabad.
Prof (Dr.) Devanand B. Shinde, Vice-Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Mr H.D. Kapse, Managing Director, IGTR Aurangabad, Mr Shankar Kumar, Technical Advisor GIZ New Delhi, Mr Ritesh Mishra, Director MAGIC and Mr Tasvvar Ali, Technical Advisor GIZ inaugurated the program and presented wishes to all participants for the bootcamp.

The 2 Days Startup Bootcamp conducted using Experiential Learning Pedagogy, which means participants engaged in hands-on activities rather than learning only theories. Startups got a chance to specifically work on their own project ideas.

On the first day at bootcamp, participants learnt about the Entrepreneurship and the Innovations in the Startups. The session on Idea to Reality was a learning experience to all participants. Participants were introduced to the 6 E’s Model (Explore, Empathise, Experiment, Execute, Enjoy, Evolve) where they got to know about the stages for turning any innovative/startup idea into reality.

Also a new approach about the Solution to Problem was introduced to participants in which they identified few solutions/businesses from their daily life use and tried to find out the actual problem they are solving.
On the second day of workshop, the participants presented the Problems, which they had identified on the first day of workshop on a chart and explained to the rest participants.

The next session was on the Business Model Canvas, where u get to understand the all aspects of your Business and the solution you are building for your customers. This session was conducted like an activity where the participants represented each element of canvas model and tried to find out the relation between them.
After this activity, the participants prepared the Business plan using the canvas model for the Problems they had identified and presented in the morning session. Later the mentors and the participants has one to one close door interaction meeting to understand the actual problems participants are facing in there Startups/Businesses.
The concluding session was about Value Proposition and open QnA session where participants interacted with the faculties.

Mr Ashish Garde, Mr Prasad Kokil, Director MAGIC and Past President CMIA and Mr Ritesh Mishra took efforts to make the programme successful.
The valedictory function was conducted in presence of Mr Shivparasad Jaju, Hon Secretary CMIA, where he inspired and motivated all the participants through his speech. Mr H.D. Kapse, Managing Director, IGTR Aurangabad, Mr Mahesh Kattale, Manager Incubation and CMIA Secretariat were present for the valedictory function.
The 2 Days Bootcamp covered the following modules:

Grand Finale of Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019

The Grand Finale was hosted in MIT BTech Aurangabad on 14th Sept 2019. Shortlisted top 18 teams from 6 cities pitched their ideas to the panel of judges.

The panel expert and successful entrepreneurs Mr. Sunil Raithatha, MD, Vinodrai Engineering, Jalna, Mr Satish Jayaram, Principal, Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad,  Mr Prashant Deshpande, CEO and Director, Expert Global Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Charted Accountant Vijay Rathi and Charted Accountant Vithal Deshmukh. The panel judged evaluated the ideas on the basis of innovation, scalability and business models.

Mr Sarang Bora from Gofloat Technologies bagged the first prize of Rs 1,00,000/- (One Lakh) and won the Winner title in the competition. GoFloat Technologies is the modern solutions to prevent drowning. A portable and affordable flotation device that prevents individuals from in flood like situations. It is developing, producing and selling reliable flotation and other water safety devices.

Mr Siddhant Tawarawala from Wide Need Pvt Ltd. Stood second and bagged prize of Rs 75,000/- (Seventy Five Thousand) and won the title of Runner Up. Wide Need Pvt. Ltd. provides a hustle free urine solution called pocket toilets with high standards of hygiene. A paper based bag which has a uni-sexual funnel on the top which can be used by men, women to pee. The pee gets collected into a bag and turns into thick odourless gel within few seconds of use so that it stays leak proof and spill free.  The bag can hold up to 1000 ml of urine that means a person can use it to pee 3 times in a single bag.

Ms Poonam Pawade from Hatcher Technologies became the Winner (Ideation Stage) and bagged prize of Rs 50,000 (Fifty Thousand) Hatcher Technologies will be an electricity-free, affordable post-harvest, on-farm storage solution for small and marginal farmers, which provides farmers crucial time to tackle the demand-supply gap and thus earn more profits. Hatcher Technologies develop the most energy-efficient and high-performance self-sterilizing and controlled humidity microclimate in a self-sustained tent, to store fruits and vegetables on the farm for longer durations.

Ms Neha Wadikar from Wish Funda awarded as Best Woman Entrepreneur also the prize of Rs 50,000 (Fifty Thousand). Wish Funda is a marketplace for wishful experiences, which are enjoyable and enriching at the same time. The Funda is to provide Customers with exciting and extraordinary experiences, one can engage with Artist, musicians, chefs, photographers, designers and others who inspire shared interests, hence creating lasting memories.

Ms. Ridhima Gauba from InterviewAir and Mr Lekh Mithawala from MyBrain grabbed Best Jury award and bagged prize Rs 25,000/- (Twenty Thousand) each.

InterviewAir is an AI based Asynchronous Video Profiling technology, which assists Corporate HRs for Talent Acquisition in India, to start with (aspiring for global markets), making sure that job seekers from remote areas (Tier 2/3&4) get an opportunity for employment. The product works as an interface between Job Seekers, Colleges, Vocational Institutions, Corporate, Consultants & Trainers, and it can bring together the Candidates looking for jobs to the Corporate without being physically present for the multiple rounds of job interviews (both technical and non-technical).

MyBrain manufacture recycled Paper Pencils which is made from old & waste papers. The Paper Pencils are a Green Engineering Product, which is not only eco-friendly but also Best in Quality, performance & results. Mybrain manufacture Seed Pencils – a pencil which saves trees & then makes itself available to be planted for germination of new trees.

The award ceremony was conducted in presence of Hon. District Collector Aurangabad, Mr Uday Chaudhari IAS, Mr. Shivprasad Jaju Hon. Secretary CMIA, Mr Shankar Kumar, Advisor, GIZ New Delhi, Dr. Santosh Bhosle Principal MIT Aurangabad, Mr Ritesh Mishra, Convenor Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019, Mr Prasad Kokil, Mr. Kedar Deshpande Mr Ashish Garde and Mr. Rohit Dashrathi  Directors MAGIC.

17 teams were given Letter of Interest from MAGIC to explore the opportunities for Incubation Support and Mentoring Support.

Women Startup Accelerator Program to support Women Entrepreneurs in Aurangabad on 5th September 2019 at CMIA Aurangabad

Half a day seminar was organized exclusively for aspiring Women Entrepreneurs and also for those who have already started their venture and want to scale up their business by going global.  The CMIA’s Women Entrepreneur Innovation Facilitation Cell supported by GIZ intends to handhold women entrepreneurs in Aurangabad through required professional support and mentoring by team of experts and mentors.

Half a day seminar was attended by nearly 50+ women participants.

The Chief Guest, Ms Iris Becker, Founder of Let’s Bridge IT delivered an inspiring speech where she emphasized that starting on your own and making it big is not always going to be smooth ride. Entrepreneurship has its challenges and there would be a lot of highs and lows in the journey to success.

Ms. Natasha Zarine, Director, Eco Sattva, made a presentation on her journey as an Women Entrepreneur in the area of Solid Waste Management in Aurangabad.

Mr. Bhagwan Chandnani, Asst. General Manager SIDBI, enumerated the schemes available for encouraging women to start on their own. If women holds more than 51% stake in a venture, then there are very good schemes that would help her in financing her project provided she has a good CIBIL score.

Mr. Girdhar Sanganeria, President, CMIA, Mr Prasad Kokil, Director, MAGIC and past president CMIA, Ms. Rashmi Khurana, Anchor Mentor and Program Director (West), Mr Ashish Garde, Director MAGIC and past president CMIA and Mr. Tasvvar Ali, Cluster Manager, MSME Innovation Project, GIZ were also attended and interacted with Women Entrepreneurs.

CMIA’s MAGIC to host One Day Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in association with National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Dr. BAMU) on 31st August 2019, at Dr. BAMU Campus.
CMIA’s Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC) is organizing One Day Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ (IPR) in association with National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Dr. BAMU) at Aurangabad on 31st August 2019, at 9:30 am to 4:30  pm in CFART Auditorium, Opp. Bajaj Incubation Center, Dr. BAMU Campus. As part of Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019 initiated by MAGIC, a series of workshops and mentoring sessions are organised for the benefits of the registered applicants.

Objectives of the workshop
• To create awareness on Intellectual Property Rights and Patents.
• To develop Academic and Industrial research perspective.
• To protect and explore IPRs.
• To improve the IP in the Marathwada region, Maharashtra state.
• To impart Hands-on training on Patent search technique and Patent specification drafting.

One Day IPR Workshop will be facilitated by IP Experts and Faculties from National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), New Delhi. NRDC was established in 1953 by the Government of India, with the primary objective to promote, develop and commercialise the technologies / know-how / inventions / patents / processes emanating from various national R&D institutions / Universities. During the past six decade of its existence and in pursuance of its corporate goals, NRDC has forged strong links with the Scientific and Industrial community in India and abroad and has developed a wide network of Research Institutions, Academia and Industry and made formal arrangements with them for the commercialisation of know-how developed in their laboratories and is now recognised as a large repository of wide range of technologies spread over almost all areas of Industries, viz. Agriculture and Agro-processing, Chemicals including Pesticides, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Bio Technology, Metallurgy, Electronics and Instrumentation, Building Materials, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics etc. It has licensed the indigenous technology to more than 4800 Entrepreneurs and helped to establish a large number of small and medium scale industries.

First round of Startup pitching held on 17th &18th August 2019 hosted at Aurangabad

Inaugural ceremony of first round of pitching conducted in the gracious presence of Dr. Ulhas Shiurkar, Director, Deogiri Institute of Engineering and Management Studies and Mr. Girdhar Sanganeria, President, CMIA. Dr. Ulhas Shiurkar appreciated MAGIC for initiating Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019 for the Startups in the Region, Mr. Ritesh Mishra, Convener, Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019 gave the opening remarks, Mr. Satish Lonikar Jt. Secretary CMIA, Mr. Prasad Kokil, Director, MAGIC were also present.

Top 33 shortlisted startups from 10 cities across the country, presented their innovative ideas to an independent panel of judges comprising successful entrepreneurs and professional experts, of these 33 start-ups that were selected from nearly 250 entries, 25 were from Marathwada while 6 came from other parts of the country. The Panel of Judges rigorously evaluated each of the teams on various parameters such as inattentiveness of the ideas, project viability, business model, scalability, marketability, risk-reward assessment etc.

Each Team was given 10 min to present their idea and thereafter 10 min were allocated for a grueling question and answer round by the Panel of Judges

CMIA’s MAGIC will be hosting Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019, one of its kind initiatives to promote the spirit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship amongst the students from Marathwada Region. CMIA’s MAGIC is inviting applications from passionate Student, Startups and Innovators with their innovative ideas to build solutions.

What is Marathwada Innovation Challenge 2019?

Marathwada Innovation Challenge (MIC) – 2019 is an initiative of CMIA’s Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC) to activate a series of innovative technology based solutions for various problems.  Marathwada Innovation Challenge (MIC) will bring together a range of individuals and organizations that care about building such solutions and are willing to ideate, deliberate and innovate for offering innovative solutions.  CMIA’s MAGIC will pick handful of most feasible ideas and enable willing innovators/entrepreneurs in prototyping, testing and implementing to create an impact with a innovation in Marathwada Region.

Marathwada Innovation Challenge encourages all College Students, Startups and Young Innovators who have innovative ideas and big dreams about starting their own business ventures. It provides an excellent opportunity to learn from successful business leaders, to nurture their innovative idea into a powerful business model and pitch it to the top Investors/Venture Capitalist.

Selection Process

Selection process will be carried out in 3 phases by the panel of mentors and experts.

Phase 1 – Scrutinising the Applications

Phase 2 –Pitching the Ideas to the Panel of Mentors

Phase 3 – Grand Finale and Demo Day

Panel of experts, successful entrepreneurs and domain experts will select the innovative, saleable ideas.

Judging Criteria

The judges are professionals who come from various business backgrounds and include experienced investors, experienced Incubation managers, successful entrepreneurs and senior business people and service professionals.  The judges consider specific criteria when evaluating the Applications and later, the business plans, however ultimately, winning teams usually are those which the judges find innovative with promising team, having good potential for market success and hence are fundable.

CMIA’s MAGIC to Support Student Innovator Aayan Mirza Baig

CMIA’s MAGIC hosted an Interaction meeting of Faculties connected with Innovation Cell, Entrepreneurship Cell and Incubation Cell of various academic institutions from Aurangabad and invited Innovators for the interaction meeting on 25th May 2019  at CMIA Mr. Aayan Mirza Baig, Student Inventor for Portable Air Cooler for Autorickshaws and Mr. Namdev Anerao, Founder, Samajdar Agro Equipments Pvt. Ltd. from District Beed.

Ayaan Mirza Baig, 15 year old student from Razia Sultan High School Aurangabad was invited to interacted with Faculties from Engineering Collages to share his journey of Inventing the Air cooler for the Autorickshaw driven by his father Mazhar Mirza Baig; Bright and promising student Mr. Ayaan Mirza Baig invented Air Cooling system for Auto Rickshaws. His Father couldn’t drive auto due to extreme heatwave during summer. Considering the problem Ayaan Mirza Baig built a compact Air Cooler for the Auto Rickshaws. Aaayan Mirza Baig aspires to be a Mechanical Engineer from IIT in near future. Considering his spirit of Innovation, Creative Thinking and Entrepreneurial Spirit with learning ability CMIA’s MAGIC has decided to extend him support, cooperation and provide mentoring to become entrepreneur.

He Invented Multipurpose Agriculture Equipment to solve labour problem in the farm and owns the Product Patent. Mr. Namdev Anerao Sets up 9000 Sqft. State of the art Manufacturing unit at Pimpalner Village,District Beed was Inaugurated by our Directors Mr. Sunil Raithatha, MD Vinodrai Engineers Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Prasad Kokil, MD Sanjay Groups on 15th May 2019. He has 25 Orders for new machines. He employed 4 Skilled workers.
